The Logitech Pure-Fi Express Plus iPhone clock is small, sleek and easy to carry around. It takes six AA batteries that last about 10 hours on a modest volume setting. However, there is no radio with this product and the sound quality is much poorer than other similar devices such as the iHome iP90.

The Logitech Pure-Fi Express Plus is a small box that has speakers on both sides of the iPhone clock radio. These are called omnidirectional speakers. This would allow you to place the Logitech iPod dock in the middle of a room and listen to music on all sides of the device. There is also a small remote that will stop, play and skip the music playing on your iPod or iPhone. The remote will work from up to 30 feet away from the iPod clock radio.

The iPod clock radio is lightweight and easy to carry around. The handle is a flip-down piece that is in the back of the station. The battery life is around 10 hours, if the music is not played too loud and the six AA batteries are not included with purchase. Of course, the Logitech iPod dock can also be a totally stationary and has an AC cord that is included with purchase.

This iPhone clock radio is compatible with all the latest iPods and iPhones. You can also connect any other media source to the speakers through the line-in jack located on the back of the speakers. The line-in jack does not charge any devices and cannot be used as an alarm.

The only option for an alarm is the buzzer. The iPod clock radio will not allow you to wake up to music from your iPod or iPhone and there is no radio on this docking station. The buzzer is loud and will easily wake up most, but we really missed using the iPod for an alarm. The Logitech iPod dock also only has one alarm and there are no features for weekday/weekend settings.

The omnidirectional speakers can help fill a room with rich, deep music and at low volumes, this iPod clock radio works pretty well. When the volume increases, the sound becomes strained and full of static noises. Music is best listened to at a low volume and utilizing the 360 degree sound employed by the speakers.

Ease of Use:

Because there are so few features with the iPhone clock radio, the use is relatively simple. Setting the buzzer alarm is quick and easy and the sound settings are effortless to find. You will be able to adjust the sound settings manually, including bass/treble balance.

The manufacturer’s website has detailed customer service options including email, telephone and sections for frequently asked questions. When we sent an email asking a few simple questions it took about 3 business days to receive a response. The manufacturer includes a two-year warranty with the purchase of the docking station.

Summary:

There are so many important features missing from the Logitech Pure-Fi Express Plus. There is no radio, the alarm is only a buzzer, you can’t wake up to your iPod, and the sound quality is extremely low. Despite a small and fantastic design, this iPod dock is not worth your money.
